My name is Julie Fortner and I am a local photographer in Waterford, MI.  My photo collections are infused with consistent and creative technique.  I love capturing a moment in time to build memories that you can always look back on and smile.

Pure Michigan born and bred.  If I'm being honest, I never expected to become a photographer.  I'm learning that the best things in life are things I never expected, and things I could not have imagined.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree in Finance and Leadership Studies.  I have always enjoyed taking pictures and now have made an amazing business out of it.

Music has always drawn me in.  I played flute throughout school and it became my therapy.  When I put the camera to my face for the first time, it unlocked something inside me.  I'd always been the funny one, the rule follower, the "mom" of the group, but never the CREATIVE one.  But that creativity was in me, and all it took was a used Canon 60D camera I bought off craigslist years ago.  Though life took me down many paths before I found photography, I think I've made my family proud by following a career I truly love.  I have a very bubbly personality and I love to laugh.  Life is very short and I believe in living it to the fullest.

Photographing and seeing the undiluted joy of people coming together is something I have trouble describing, so instead, I put the camera to my face and show people with my photos.  I am very blessed that I get to interact with my clients and build relationships with them so we get to know each other and I can make your session fun and comfortable.  My job is to make your session stress free and fun!  I look forward to meeting you and working with you!  I am a member of the Detroit Professional Photographers and the Professional Photography Association.

If the photos I have made speak to you, let's talk about the time you are trying to capture.  I'm honored to be considered to capture your memories.  Take a look around and contact me anytime!  Thank you!
